About Me

Genie Chow is the owner of Rainbow Lute Publishing, where she writes and illustrates picture books and novels. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison as an art major, and studied illustration at the Art Institute of Boston, with a degree in filmmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute. After graduating, she added to her experience through classes in children's book writing and illustrating.

She painted portraits in watercolors for six years, and created paintings in the fairy art genre.

She believes in the importance of creating books children can enjoy and learn from.    

She now focuses on writing and illustrating her books, and lives in Northern California with her domestic partner.
