Genie Chow attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison as an art major, then took illustration classes at the Art Institute of Boston, and studied filmmaking at the Massachusetts College of Art, graduating with a film degree from the San Francisco Art Institute. Genie credits her background in children's books from taking classes in children's book writing and illustration through the University of California-Berkeley Extension program and the Write-by-the-Lake retreats in Madison, Wisconsin.
She now focuses on her writing and illustration as the owner of Rainbow Lute Publishing, and has written several books for children, including Bear Hugs for Stella; Sweet Dreams, Baby; The June Baby; Jason and Joella's China Trip; and Thunder Elk and the Fairy Children.
When she is not writing and illustrating children's books, she makes art dolls and bears and is also an aspiring romantic comedy novelist. She lives in the East Bay of California with her domestic partner.
