I think for me, I love an original, or an inspired by a movie novel that makes me chuckle. Laugh about the conventions of relationships and how they should be, how they appear to be in the eyes of the characters, mostly the protagonist of the stories.

I also like cheerful bantering, sometimes becoming angry retorts, but we read it with a laugh inside, knowing full well we've been in those shoes.

Also, a touching romance is nice because then we feel something about what the character is going through, such as feeling insecure when comparing oneself with others, or needing more confidence performing at her job, or just the general pessimism in her life. But also, how she gets over that and becomes positive about her role at work, as a girlfriend and what is the best relationship for her to be in.

What are your thought on this? Do you like romantic novels and what do you expect to read? Do you like sarcasm and parodies of traditional relationships?
